It’s Sunday and I decided to go to Dinh Le street to take some photos for my friend. She is a booklover and she used to buy books there when she was inHanoi .
Dinh Le is a famous street of books. There are various kinds of books but the main is literature. Most of booklovers in Ha Noi like those stores because the price is always cheaper and its atmosphere is very “books”!
One thing makes me love to go there is that the books are on old wooden shelves in narrow rooms, it is very different with some bookstores near there (bigger, more modern and also more expensive). Those small bookshops make me feel warm and friendly. Standing in the small space and surrounding with books, I almost forget noises from the outside, just me and books, I can feel the smell of fresh ink and paper and absolutely swim deeply in words. Moreover, you can ask the seller about every book. They can remember the name of all and some even can talk with you about their favorite books.
Luckily, I came here at early afternoon so the street was in quiet space. in weekends, the streets always become crowd and noisy by both customers (people who can't come here in weekdays) and sellers.
If this is your first time coming here, there is no doubt that you'll be shocked by the prices. every stores has a big banner that "sale 20-35%" or even "crazyyyy sale 20-50%". Well, but I don't think you can buy a book that sales by a half. What a great advertisement to attract customers, right! Anyway, I myself come in crazy-sale-store all the time. As you know, people like "CHEAP" and when you actually get in their doors, all around is so tight with people, books. According to me, you've got to get yourself a spot to put your feet on and well, pick up some favorite covers or authors. It's also noisy, too. People talking, asking, calling, maybe screaming? But it's really animated atmosphere!
Of course beside those who have stores, there are some don't so these sellers come here only in weekends. They put their shelves on the pavement, selling books until it gets dark and no more customers. In fact, these guys are my favorite and wise choice. You know why? They're selling the cheapest books in the whole world. Trust me, they don't have to pay the rental so the price is always amazing, even lower than others just a little little bit.
To end up this topic, well nothing to say but "welcome to the most wonderful book-street"!
